<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus of a one-pass double-sided system which does not make an image density different between the front surface and the back surface. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with: a 1st image density sensor 15 opposite to a 1st intermediate transfer belt 10 to which an image is transferred from an image forming unit SU; and a 2nd image density sensor 27 opposite to a 2nd intermediate transfer belt 20. A specified reference pattern is formed and transferred to the belt 10 and is detected by a 1st image density sensor 15. The reference pattern is transferred to a 2nd intermediate transfer belt 20 further and detected by a 2nd image density sensor 27. The density of the front surface image and the back surface image in double-sided recording is controlled based on the detection values of the sensors 15 and 27. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
