<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that enables an easy registration of user authentication information and enables user-dependent editing of display information under the registered personal authentication information. <P>SOLUTION: In user registration processing, when a start key on a biological information input part 12a is depressed, a CPU 11 directs the biological information input part 12a to read in fingerprint data on a user. A message inquiring whether an operation screen is to be custom-edited or not is displayed on a display part 13, and on detection of a response input from a key operation input part 12b, if a response input denying editing is detected, whether the read fingerprint data are to be used in user registration or not is confirmed to the user before a shift to user registration.
