PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device having high airtightness in a sealing part improved in reliability, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: In this image display device, a vacuum envelope 10 has a front substrate 11 and a rear substrate 12 disposed opposite to each other. The inside of the vacuum envelope is provided with a plurality of electron emission elements 22. Peripheral parts of the front substrate and the rear substrate are sealed with a sealing material 32. At least one of sealed faces 32, 33 of the front substrate and the rear substrate sealed with the sealing material is applied with reforming treatment. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
