PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for manufacture of a battery capable of improving accuracy in shape and size of the battery. SOLUTION: A battery element 20 sealed in a outer package member 30 is supported by a supporting stand 41. A presser member 42 is provided with a concave part 42B in opposition to a top face of the battery element 20, and this concave part 42B maintains a gap against the battery element 20 and its slanted face 42A pushes and stops part of the base end side of sealing parts 31B, 31C of the outer package member 30. The battery element 20 is pinched by the supporting stand 41 and the presser member 42 without being deformed due to a difference of the widths, the fold line thus made is straight, and a curving of the sealing parts 31B, 31C is prevented. When the battery element 20 is sealed into the outer package member 30, the inside of the outer package member 30 is vacuum deaerated after an initial charging. For this, a temporary sealing part is fitted at a side of the outer package member 30, so that gas is to be stored between the temporary sealing part and the battery element 20.
