PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with an increase in recording density and an increase in recording capacity by making the outside dimension of a cartridge main body to the irreducible minimum with respect to the outside diameter of a disk-like recording medium to be housed in a disk housing part. SOLUTION: This disk cartridge is furnished with a cartridge main body 6 combined with one set of an upper half 11 and lower half 12 formed from a resin material, a magneto-optical disk 5 freely rotatably housed in the disk housing part arranged inside the cartridge main body 6, and a metal plate 25 supported by the upper half 11 and lower half 12. As to the metal plate 25, the internal surface constitutes the inner peripheral surface of the disk housing part and also the external surface is exposed outside the cartridge main body 6 to form the outer peripheral surface of the cartridge main body 6.
