PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inductance detecting circuit of a simple constitution while allowing improvement in rectilinearity, temperature compensation and the like, so as to realize a position detector of a low cost. SOLUTION: In this detector, pulse sequences having pulse widths corresponding respectively to two sets of time constants for a resistance and a coil are output, the pulse widths are count-discriminated to be digitalized, and a movable body position and temperature information of a detecting part are detected by the discrimination of the two pulses. A two-dimensional table of a digital position of primary information is provided in each of the position detectors using the movable body position and the temperature information of the detecting part as an index, a detected data is converted in the each position detector to execute the improvement in the rectilinearity of a position output and the temperature compensation.
