PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a means for properly carrying out the winding of a metallic strip on a sleeve when winding the metallic strip on the sleeve mounted to a winding device and winding the metallic strip into a coil shape by using the sleeve as a core. SOLUTION: When winding the strip around the peripheral surface of the sleeve preliminarily mounted to the mandrel of the winding device and winding the metallic strip into a coil using the sleeve as the winding core, the metallic strip is wound around the sleeve after detecting the center position in the axial direction of the sleeve mounted to the mandrel and making this center position in the axial direction of the sleeve coincide with the center position in the width direction of the metallic strip.
