The invention concerns current collector systems adapted to multipolar machines which by their nature place high and not previously encountered demands on efficient brush collection with special features. Among others these include the desired facility for making multiple releasable electrical connections to outside electrical power sources and electrical loads. Further, the number of brushes involved may range into the hundreds if not the low thousands and currents as well as voltages can be large. Three variants on a basic systems are proposed, one incorporating modules of brush pairs and prefabricated insulated brush holder sections of potentially many brush holders with one short-circuited brush at each end., another composed from modules of modest numbers of single units that may be assembled on a machine, and the third a combination of these of great adaptability to needs and conditions. All appear to be easily manufactured, to be reliable and easily used. |
