<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for displaying/reading out text corresponding to an ideogram unique to a user, which can make up for required words and output by voice while displaying its abbreviated form in a display area. <P>SOLUTION: In this method for displaying/reading the text corresponding to the ideogram unique to the user, a reading out sentence is created on the basis of text data including the ideogram unique to the user, a display sentence to be displayed on a screen as text data including the ideogram unique to the user and the reading out sentence are registered as a pair of data, one of the registered display sentence and the registered reading out sentence or both of them are read when one of the sentences or both of the sentences are outputted.
