<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrosurgical instrument which can easily and surely perform a thermocoagulation surgery of a wide range, and the safety of which is high. <P>SOLUTION: This electrosurgical instrument 1 is equipped with a liquid injecting means which injects physiological saline, and is a monopolar type electrosurgical instrument for performing an electrosurgery of a biological tissue by applying a high-frequency current (high-frequency power) to the biological tissue. The electrosurgical instrument 1 has an instrument body 2, a hand piece 3 and a counter electrode plate 4 which are connected with the instrument body 2. The instrument body 2 has a central processing unit 61, a pump 62, a power source for outputting the high-frequency, a high-frequency outputting device, an insulated transformer, a monitor device, a flow rate sensor 69 which detects the flow rate of the saline, and an operation part, or the like.
