<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition coil comprising a thermal stress relaxation member whose thickness is optimized. <P>SOLUTION: The ignition coil comprises a housing, a bar-shaped central core 54 arranged at almost the center in the housing, the thermal stress relaxation member 52 covering an outer peripheral surface of the central core 54, a cylindrical spool 4 arranged on the outer peripheral side of the thermal stress relaxation member 52 with a gap 9 between, and a resin insulating material 8a with which the gap 9 is filled to cure the material. The thermal stress relaxation member 52 is wound around the central core 54. The thickness of the thermal stress relaxation member 52 is set at a thickness that relaxes a thermal stress applied to the resin insulating material 8a by the central core 54 due to thermal deformation to a saturation value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
