PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid composition which has a high traction coefficient, excellent low temperature fluidity, and excellent practicality, and is used for traction drive. SOLUTION: This ester compound represented by formula (1) [R is a 1 to 4C alkyl; R1and R2are each an alkylene or nothing, provided that at least one of R1and R2is the alkylene; (m) and (n) are each an integer of 0 to 4], and the fluid composition used for the traction drive is characterized by containing the ester compound.
