PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus to be used by inserting and connecting a plurality of storage media for allowing an operator to easily and safely insert/extract the storage media without considering the logical drive of the storage media or the configuring units of a RAID. SOLUTION: When the discharge of an HDD unit inserted/connected to an HDD slot part 21 is designated, a CPU 14 controls a motor control part 25 of the HDD slot part 21, and discharge the HDD unit. Then, the CPU 14 judges whether or not the HDD unit which is logically the same as the discharged HDD unit is put in an inserted state is checked, and above mentioned discharge processing is executed to the HDD unit which is logically the same as the HDD unit inserted into the HDD slot part 21.
