PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently fix toner to a recording medium and to obtain a satisfactory image free of a density uneveness and image displacement, in a belt fixing device which fixes toner to recording medium. SOLUTION: The belt fixing device for fixing an unfixed toner image to a recording medium 1 is provided with: a first roller 12; a fixing belt 10 which is wound round the first roller and has a perimeter longer than the first roller; a second roller 13 which is firmly pressed against the first roller via the fixing belt; and a pressing member 14 which is disposed inside a slack portion of the fixing belt, which is formed downstream of a pressure contact portion of the first and second roller in the direction in which the recording medium is carried. In the pressure contact portion of the first and second rollers via the fixing belt, toner is made to be fixed at a fixing rate of 80% or more. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
