PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrier mechanism in which the total thickness of a unit is reduced without increasing the outside diameter resulting in miniaturization of the whole camera and which performs smooth barrier opening and closing action. SOLUTION: In the lens barrier mechanism, inside barrier plates 4, 5 and outside barrier plates 2, 3 are turnably attached to the shafts 8a, 8b of a circular barrier receiving plate 8, these barrier plates are clipped by a lens ornamental frame 1 and the frame 1 is attached to the barrier receiving plate 8. A barrier driving plate 9 is attached by bayonet engagement to the inside of the circular part of the barrier receiving plate 8. The front faces of the plates 9, 8 are flush with each other. The rear faces of the inside barriers 4, 5 come in contact wit the front face of the barrier driving plate 9 and driving arms 4a, 5a engage directly with the plate 9. The thickness of the unit of the lens barrier mechanism is reduced by the thickness of the barrier receiving plate 8 and the tilt of the barrier plates to a plane of rotation is made smaller.
