A nylon or other plastic reservoir is connected to the master cylinder of an hydraulic system (e.g. for operating brakes or clutch) by a hollow rigid sleeve or bush 15 in the form of a bolt which clamps the bottom 19 of the reservoir to the master cylinder 31, a rubber or other resilient washer 26 being interposed between two surfaces at least one of which is inclined to the normal to the axis, so that the axial dimension of the washer diminishes progressively in an outward direction when the parts are clamped together. Preferably the washer is of uniform thickness when free, so that the outer part is compressed more than the inner part. An annular spacer 25 abuts a shoulder on the reservoir 19 to limit the amount of compression of the washer, and its radial spread is limited by a shrouding 31. A washer 21 under the bolt head supports the three resilient legs 29 of a disc 28 carrying a deflector 27 to stop particles from falling into the master cylinder when the cap 30 is removed. The lower surface of the compressed washer may slope as well as or instead of the upper surface. The reservoir may be of polythene.</p> |
