<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receipt printer that can change a language for printing a receipt according to a request of a customer and a method of printing a receipt. <P>SOLUTION: This receipt printer comprises a data receiving section 11 for receiving print data, a language converting section 13 that stores a plurality of kinds of language information and converts the received print data to data in a designated predetermined printing language based on the language information, a printing control section 12 that produces an image to be printed in a predetermined receipt format based on the received print data and the printing language converted by the language converting section 13, and a printing section 14 for printing the printing information according to the controlling of the printing control section. When the designation of the printing language is not applied, the printing of a receipt is performed by a regular printing language.
