<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify, using one fingerprint collation device, people entering or exiting an exhibition space or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The fingerprint collating device 7 is installed near an entrance 4 where a traffic gate 5 is rotatably provided and a fingerprint sensor 8 is positioned so that fingers can be placed thereon from either side of the entrance 4. A read image of the fingerprint of a finger placed from the outside 2 of the entrance 4 is reversed within its plane to create a reverse image. The read image is matched against a registered image; if the images are coincident, the device determines that a registered person is entering, and opens the gate 5. If the finger is placed from the inside 3 of the entrance 4, the reverse image is matched against the registered image; if the images are coincident, the device determines that the person is exiting and then opens the gate 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
