PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk unit that constitutes a system provided with a plurality of magnetic disk drives and requires only small buffer capacity and can eliminate a bottleneck when data is transferred. SOLUTION: A magnetic disk subsystem to which the plurality of magnetic disk drives are connected is provided with a rotary synchronous control circuit to synchronize the rotations of spindle motors of the plurality of magnetic disk drives. Positions of data on a disk are distributedly arranged to different addresses in each disk, timing at which the data are actually read from the disk is thereby shifted to prevent the data from being instantly transferred when the data are read from a head while obtaining rotational synchronization.
