PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera with a barrier in which its configuration is simple and no obstacle occurs in the advance and retreat operation of a lens barrel owing to barrier operation. SOLUTION: The camera with the barrier has a movable barrier 2 at an opening position and a closing position for opening or closing the front of the advanceable and retreatable lens barrel 3. When the lens barrel 3 is located at a photographing position projected from a camera body, a locking shaft 18 is energized in the direction projected from the camera body 1 by a pressing spring 3g at the lens barrel 3 side to prevent the lens barrel 3 from movement in the closing direction of the barrier 2 owing to the projected locking shaft 18. Meanwhile, when the lens barrel 3 is retracted in the collapsing direction and not projected from the camera body, no energizing force of the pressing spring 3g at the lens barrel 3 side is acted. The locking shaft 18 is pulled in the camera body by the energizing force of a return spring 19, allowing the barrier 2 to move in the closing direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
