PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device by which the service life and burnout-rate of each water-cooled cable can be determined in a state where a plurality of the water-cooled cables is connected in parallel between one water-cooled cable connecting terminal and another water-cooled cable connecting terminal. SOLUTION: While a direct current is made to flow between the water-cooled cable connecting terminals, the voltage value across the terminals is measured and, at the same time, the magnitude of the direct current flowing through each water-cooled cable is measured by using a clamping ammeter and the service life and burnout rate of each water-cooled cable are determined from the resistance value of each cable derived from the measured voltage value and current value.
