METHOD FOR RECLAMATION OF WASTE ACID AND USE THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the reclamation of waste acid obtained by a hydrolysis reaction in a process to produce cellulose powder or crystalline cellulose powder by the hydrolysis of pulp cellulose with a mineral acid, and to provide a method for producing cellulose powder or crystalline cellulose powder by using the reclaimed waste acid. SOLUTION: Cellulose powder or crystalline cellulose powder is produced by hydrolyzing pulp cellulose with a mineral acid. In the above process, the waste acid generated by the hydrolysis reaction is reclaimed by adding an ozone exhaust gas generated by an ozonizer or exhausted from an ozone bleaching step of a pulp bleaching process to the waste acid while irradiating the acid with ultraviolet rays. The reclaimed waste acid is used in the hydrolysis of pulp cellulose singly or in a state mixed with a fresh mineral acid. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
