PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressor drive device for vehicle suitable for use in a hybrid type automobile, whereby a compressor can be driven in accordance with an engine driving condition under an optimum condition. SOLUTION: An electric rotary machine is connected to a drive shaft of an engine through a first clutch, and the compressor for an air conditioner is connected to the electric rotary machine through a second clutch. When a rotational frequency of the engine is equal to or much more than a predetermined value, the first clutch is cut off and the second clutch is connected, and the electric rotary machine 4 is motor-operated so that the compressor is rotatably driven.
