PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a deceleration peak generated by the collision of a vehicle and to determine the symmetric collision or asymmetric collision at that time. SOLUTION: This collision form determining device comprises: left/right deceleration detecting means 24, 26 disposed on the left side and right side of the front part of the vehicle to detect the deceleration on the left side and right side in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle in a prescribed cycle; a deceleration integrated value computing means 32 for integrating the left and right deceleration by time to compute left and right deceleration integrated values; a peak detecting means 34 for detecting the respective peaks of the left and right deceleration; and a symmetry determining means 36 for determining whether the collision form of the vehicle is symmetric or asymmetric based on the left and right deceleration integrated values.
