PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam generation body which can accurately control the spillage of the contents thereof while achieving a desired steam generation performance. SOLUTION: This steam generation body has metal powder to be oxidized and a steam generating composition containing salts and water housed in an air permeable bag body 2. The bag body 2 has a double air permeable sheet 20 and an air imermeable sheet 21 joined together while the air-permeable sheet 20 comprises a compound nonwoven fabric in which a spunbonded nonwoven fabric 200, a meltblown nonwaven fabric 201 and a nonwoven fabric 202 made of a hot melt fiber are bonded together in this order.
