<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting body 2 wherein the light emitted from the light emitting portion of a semiconductor, or the light emitted from the light emitting portion of a light propagating element comprises rectilinearly advancing light and diffusing light. <P>SOLUTION: The fundamental configuration of the light emitting element 2 comprises the following four aspects. 1. The rectilinearly advancing portion of light is provided in its package or its light emitting portion, and the diffusing portion of the light is provided in the portion other than the rectilinearly advancing portion of the light. 2. A light reflecting portion is provided in its package. 3. Its package or its light emitting portion is integrated with its protective package. 4.
