<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stable purification performance of a catalytic in a catalyst converter having a waste heat recovering means on upstream and downstream sides thereof by preventing any degradation of the catalyst converter, and allowing exhaust gas to flow into the catalytic converter without recovering the heat of the exhaust gas when the temperature of the exhaust gas is low. <P>SOLUTION: A catalytic converter 3 is provided in the middle of an exhaust gas flow passage 2 of an engine, a waste heat recovering means 4 for high temperature is provided on an exhaust gas flow passage on the upstream side of the catalytic converter 3, and the waste heat recovering means 5 for low temperature is provided on an exhaust gas flow passage on the downstream side of the catalytic converter 3. A bypass flow passage 6 which is branched from the exhaust gas flow passage on the upstream side of the waste heat recovering means 4 for hot temperature and communicating with the upstream side of the catalytic converter 3 while bypassing the waste heat recovering means 4 for high temperature, and a control valve 7 to control the flow of the exhaust gas to the exhaust gas flow passage and the bypass flow passage 6 according to the temperature of the exhaust gas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
