PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator remote monitoring apparatus for preventing the abuse of telephone line for remote monitoring by using a connection means such as a modular jack connector provided in the apparatus and for surely executing abnormality alarm, in case of emergency. SOLUTION: When a third party dials the telephone number of one's party, by connecting other pieces of communication equipment such as a telephone machine to the modular jack connector 3 to attempt to use the telephone line of the remote monitoring apparatus 1, the dial number, detected via a circuit 12 or the like for detecting the connection of other pieces of communication equipment and the telephone line registered in a memory 10, is compared with the telephone number of one's party that can be used. When the telephone number is not that of the other party that can be communicated, a first relay 4 is operated to forcibly open the telephone line, thus preventing the abuse of the telephone line.
