PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a visible small-diameter optical fiber which has high visibility and whose external diameter can be made small below 200μm. SOLUTION: The visible small-diameter optical fiber is provided with a primary coating layer 12 on a bare optical fiber 11 and is provided with a colored secondary coating layer 13 subjected to coloring of chromatic colors, such as red and blue, on this layer 12 and its external diameter is regulated to≤200μm, more preferably to 150 to 180μm. Also, the coloration made into fluorescent color is preferable for further enhancement of visibility. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
