摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bell-less type charging device for securely charging a prescribed small amount of charging raw material to a prescribed position at a low cost and at a high efficiency without mixing the same with a blast furnace main raw material, and to provide a method of operating a blast furnace. SOLUTION: The bell-less type charging device 0 for a blast furnace raw material is provided with the primary hoppers 4-1 and 4-2 having a cone part, and the second hopper 5 of a capacity smaller than that of the primary hoppers 4-1 and 4-2. The primary hoppers 4-1 and 4-2 are arranged by two pieces symmetrically with a furnace body 12. The second hopper 5 is arranged by one at a position eccentric from the core axis. The axis of a raw material exhaust part 7 in the second hopper 5 is formed parallel to the core axis. The raw material exhaust part 7 and the body of the second hopper 5 are connected with a gradient chute 6 arranged in a way gradient to the core axis. Further, the length (L) in the axial direction in the raw material exhaust part 7 and the inside diameter (D) of the raw material exhaust part 7, (L/D) is≥1. Using the bell-less type charging device D, the blast furnace main raw material is exhausted from the primary hoppers 4-1 and 4-2, and thereafter, the exhaust of a small amount of the charging raw material from the second hopper 5 is started.
