PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for producing an aromatic compound having halogen atoms at continued 1, 2 and 3 positions on the aromatic ring, especially the method for producing the aromatic compound having all different halogen atoms at the continued 1, 2 and 3 positions on the aromatic ring, and the aromatic compound having all different halogen atoms at the continued 1, 2 and 3 positions on the aromatic ring obtained by the method. SOLUTION: This method for producing the tri-halosubstituted aromatic compound having halogen atoms at the continued 1, 2 and 3 positions on the aromatic ring is characterized by performing a selective metallization reaction by effecting a zincate complex on the aromatic compound having each halogen atoms at the m-positions of the aromatic ring and then effecting a halogenation reagent.
