<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which eliminates the need for a large-scale power amplifying mechanism even in the use of a low-torque drive motor, smoothly drives a displacement mechanism for displacing developing devices to corresponding developing positions all at once with a single drive motor against pressing forces, and equally displaces any one of the developing devices to the corresponding developing position. <P>SOLUTION: In the displacement mechanism 8 of the image forming apparatus, displacement from retracting positions to the developing positions is carried out in such a manner that pressing members 80A and 80B swinguable around spindles 40e based on the power of the single drive motor 86 press the front ends and rear ends of developing devices 41.
