PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate acquisition processing of document described information by in particular a stand type scanner and enhances its working property. SOLUTION: A protrusion detection section 13 determines whether or not a document on a mat is placed within a prescribed read visual field from frame image data Db with low resolution, low quality and low gradation which the scanner 2 outputs at a prescribed time interval. When the determination indicates that the document is correctly placed within the read visual field, an image acquisition decision section 14 controls the scanner 2 to read information described on the document with high resolution, high quality and high gradation.
