PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acrylic adhesive composition having a controlled curing rate, and to provide a method for retarding the curing of an adhesive. SOLUTION: The adhesive composition comprises a (meth)acrylic ester monomer, a polymerization initiator, a decomposition accelerator and a silica having≥2.0/nm<SP>2</SP>silanol groups. The adhesive composition consists of the first liquid containing the (meth)acrylic ester monomer and the polymerization initiator, and the second liquid containing the (meth)acrylic ester monomer and the decomposition accelerator, and at least one of the first liquid and the second liquid contains the silica having≥2.0/nm<SP>2</SP>silanol groups. The adhesive composition contains an organic peroxide as the polymerization initiator. The acrylic adhesive composition contains a metal salt of an organic acid or an organic metal chelate compound as the decomposition accelerator. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
