PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To learn a shift of an attaching angle of a potentiometer for detecting an angle of a range switching shaft, in an electric range switching device of an automatic transmission. SOLUTION: A motor is stopped in a predetermined angle before a target angle. When an inhibitor switch is not turned on but a range switching shaft stops, stop before a target by the shift of the attaching angle of the potentiometer is determined. When the range switching shaft stops before the target, the range switching shaft is controlled by feedback so as to be rotated at a certain low speed. When a pulling operation by a detent mechanism is detected, the motor is stopped. An offset amount is learned based on the angle of the potentiometer when the inhibitor switch is turned on and an initial target angle. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
