IMPROVED METHOD OF CHEMICAL SENSING

A method of detecting or identifying an analyte in a fluid phase is described. The method involves changing the concentration of the analyte to which a sensor is exposed and monitoring the response of the sensor. Analysis of the sensor response to extract frequency content or temporal content, or both, yields information which is characteristic of the interaction of the analyte with the sensor. The method is applicable to both liquid phase and gas phase analytes. Advantageously, the method permits improved sensor discrimination.
