The time-function transmission system is used for communication between a number of base stations and an earth satellite. - The system operates with a certain maximum power/bandwidth, that is the total for all transmitting channels working at full capacity. If one or more channels are operating below capacity, then the surplus capacity can be utilised by other channels already full occupied. - Channels not fully occupied are transmitted with reduced power but to compensate for this and to pressure sufficient signal/noise ratio, the reduced-power channel is given an expanded address within the time slot by being allotted additional Bits. |
