摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for purification of exhaust gas which has a large adsorption capacity for harmful components and can purify 5-7C higher hydrocarbons with high efficiency, and moreover, which can efficiently purify 2-3C lower hydrocarbons, and to provide a method for purifying exhaust gas. <P>SOLUTION: (1) The catalyst for purification of exhaust gas comprises a mixture of a catalyst composition (A) and a catalyst composition (B) deposited on a honeycomb carrier. The composition (A) contains a zeolite adsorbent having &ge;15 composition ratio (SiO<SB>2</SB>/Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>) of SiO<SB>2</SB>to Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, a desorption temperature improving component containing at least one species in Ag, Cu, Co, Ni, Sr and Mg, and a combustion catalytic active component, while the composition (B) contains the above zeolite adsorbent and the combustion catalytic active component. (2) Otherwise the catalyst for purification of exhaust gas comprises the above catalyst composition (A) and the catalyst composition (B) layered on a honeycomb carrier. (3) In the method for purifying exhaust gas, an automobile exhaust gas containing 2-9C hydrocarbons is brought into contact with the above catalyst for purification of exhaust gas to purify the hydrocarbons. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
