<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zero insertion force electric connector of a simple structure which is conveniently operated and provides and retains the effect of zero insertion force. <P>SOLUTION: The zero insertion force electric connector comprises a base provided with a terminal hole array, a plurality of conductive terminals housed in the terminal holes, a cover that is fitted to face the base and slides on the base, and a drive device that drives the cover to slide on the base. The base is provided with a housing space for housing the drive device on one side, and a housing hole which is on the inner surface of a lateral side wall and communicates with the housing space. The housing space comprises a housing chamber and a housing groove. The housing hole is provided with a stairs abut surface comprising a high place and a low place. The drive device comprises an operation handle and a cam shaft, and a cam part for driving the cover is formed.
