PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosetting gas barrier polyurethane resin having very high gas barrier properties to oxygen, water vapor, perfume components, etc., not losing its high gas barrier properties even after subjected to a treatment such as boiling or retorting especially under high humidity, and is excellent in adhesion to base films and to provide a gas barrier film containing the resin. SOLUTION: The thermosetting gas barrier polyurethane resin is one containing a cured resin prepared by reacting (A) an active-hydrogen-containing compound with (B) an organic polyisocyanate, wherein the cured resin contains at least 20 wt.% skeletal structure represented by formula 1, and compounds having at least three functional groups account for at least 7 wt.% of the total weight of compounds (A) and (B).
