PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolytic solution for alkaline battery that prevents production of hydrogen gas and generation of leakage of the battery and an alkalinebattery using this electrolytic solution. SOLUTION: An aluminum ion is made contained in the electrolytic solution. As its method, aluminum powder or water-soluble aluminum compound or its solution is added in the electrolytic solution, and the ion concentration of aluminum in the electrolytic solution is made 5-200 ppm.
