PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for measuring a force acting on a drive shaft. SOLUTION: The measuring apparatus is provided with both a tubular element for supporting the drive shaft inside and distortion gauges arranged in the outer circumference of the tubular element. The distortion gauges are arranged so as to measure distortion which occurs in a direction which intersects, at right angles, a force in a direction which requires measurement among forces acting on the drive shaft. By this invention, it is possible to provide a compact measuring apparatus capable of measuring vertical and lateral forces acting on the drive shaft even at a location of a small space.
