PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the recurrence of malfunction at a spot where malfunction occurred, without causing non-operation of a system by driver's operation delay or small amount of operation. SOLUTION: This brake control system for a vehicle is provided with a storage means for storing a position and a proceeding direction at a point of time when automatic deceleration is operated by an automatic braking means, detected by a position and proceeding direction detecting means, and an operation inhibiting probability computing means for computing the probability of a vehicle being in a position and a proceeding direction to inhibit the operation of automatic deceleration, from the stored position and proceeding direction. An automatic deceleration control means is constituted as a means for determining whether the computed probability is a predetermined set value or more, and outputting a command to inhibit the operation of automatic deceleration, to the automatic braking means in the case of the set value or more, while outputting a command to release the operation inhibition of automatic deceleration, to the automatic braking means in the case of being less than the set value.
