PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floatation separation method and apparatus whereby substances to be removed from various raw water can be floated and separated at a high speed by a simple operation. SOLUTION: In the method, at least a polymer flocculant is added to water to be treated containing the substances to be removed and the water is supplied to a fluidized vessel wherein floating solid particles are present; while flocks generated by the flocculation of the substances to be removed adhere to the surfaces of the floating solid particles, the particles and the flocks adhered thereto are separated from the water by using the floating power of the particles; then, the water is taken out of a treated water separation section positioned below the fluidized vessel, and the separated floating solid particles with the flocks adhered thereto are transferred from the fluidized vessel to a flock separation section wherein the flocks are separated from the floating solid particles; and the separated flocks are discharged out of the system and the floating solid particles separated from the flocks are returned to a flocculation flock adhering section of the fluidized vessel.
