The trap is designed as a brightly yellow (4) pyramid with a screwed-on lid (6) at the bottom serving as an outlet and a loop (1) at the top for being hung to a suitable object at a distance from the area occupied by human beings or animals. The tip of the trap is filled with a sweet substance (7) before the lid (6) is screwed to the lower edge of the trap. Water (5) can be filled in through one of two holes (2, 3) provided in the wall of the object. The wasp, attracted by the substance (7), enters the trap through of one of the holes (2, 3) but is prevented from leaving by the pyramidal shape of the device.
