A combined radial and dual thrust bearing, Fig. 1 or Fig. 6 (not shown), for a shaft. (11) comprises series of rollers (14) 'disposed between an inner race member (13) and an outer race (17) having inwardly directed ends forming chambers in which are located a series of thrust bearing balls (19, 20) or rollers (32). The inner race 13 may be an enlarged portion of the shaft (11) or a separate member fixed to the shaft, the shoulders (12) thereof providing abutments for a pair of thrust collars (16) which coact with the thrust balls (19, 20). The end (22) of the outer race (17) retains a thrust race (21) for the balls (20). The shoulders (12) may be deeper for locating collars (31) which coact with the thrust rollers (32) retained in cages (33). A full complement of rollers (14) having rounded ends may be provided, in which case the cage (15) is omitted. The collars (16) may be omitted, larger balls (19, 20) being provided which coact with oblique shoulders on the shaft (11). |
