The table (R2) has at least one plate, on which a measured dollop of material spreads out. At least one sensor element (9.1-9.4) determines the diameter that the dollop of material has formed. The consistency of the material is determined by measuring the time taken for the material to spread out to a selected diameter, to the diameter that has formed after a given time.
