A covering for items of furniture, and a method for the production thereof

The covering comprises a fabric having aesthetic properties, coupled directly with a non-woven fabric formed at least partially of thermally meltable synthetic fibres. The production process in question provides for the coupling of the non-woven fabric with the fabric having aesthetic properties to take place by exposure of the non-woven fabric to a heat source.
