The lid of the tray (1) is pressed onto a flange (5) on the tray by an encompassing U-section. The flange has a sharp edged edge strip (6) with which engages an encompassing locking protrusion formed on the inner side of the outer wall of the U-section. At least some corner sections of the lid have a tear-off flap. A steep and possibly undercut locking face is provided in the corner region of the locking protrusion. Two tear-off lines extending in the transverse direction of the U-section are provided in each corner region.
