The over head gantry crane has a trolley (4) that runs on cross guides and built into these are data busses (11) that transfer information through sliding pick ups (9a) to motors . The trolley is moved by actuators (6,7) coupled onto the bus and these are controlled by a pendant controller (10) suspended from the communication bus. This has built in safety interlocks.
